Join us for a 1 to 1.5 miles walk along a field edge and through a mature longleaf pine forest where we would expect to see robins, redwing blackbirds, meadowlarks, sparrows, warblers and others. We will then walk to an active red cockaded woodpecker cluster and end up in a streamside bottom and wetland. There we expect to see waterfowl, blue herons, woodpeckers thrushes, kinglets and others. If we get lucky, maybe we will see at least one fox squirrel. Hopefully we will see many permanent residents as well as numerous wintertime migrants.
Naturalist, John Cely and birder, George McCoy will lead the bird watching and as we walk, Billy Cate will describe points of interest as well as some of the history of his family's farm. We should arrive back for an outdoor brunch around 11:15.
